First on the list of recommendations from Carly was the Museum of Art. She said it wasn’t necessarily one of her favorite places to hang but, they were having a cool exhibition.
Unfortunately, we were not able to get inside to see it – they had time slot tickets and the earliest time was when we were checking into our room.
Fortunately the museum had so much more to offer!
Outside of the exhibition (Art in Bloom) they had amazing flower arrangements. Personally flowers are my favorite thing to photograph so I was in heaven!
The arrangements were so beautiful I swear I must have taken fifty picture of them!
We wandered into one of the buildings and explored the artifacts that they had inside. One in particular really caught our attention. Hanging from the ceiling were butterflies and flowers.
The butterflies hung in the shape of a plane with the flowers at its wake. What was really impressive was how each butterfly represented someone like Amelia Earhart and the Wright brothers. It was an awesome way to bring history and art together.
Venturing outside there were sculptures littered across the park around the museum. Various trails would bring you on a tour of it all. Not only was it an amazing feeling to be able to enjoy the outdoors (It is seriously freezing right now in CT) I also really enjoyed what the museum had to offer.
In the future if I were ever to come back I would want to take full advantage of the exhibits they are currently having here. I was a little disappointed we were unable to check out the Art in Bloom exhibit. Overall the experience here was wonderful and I still can’t get over how breathtakingly beautiful the flower arrangements were.
