Over the past few months I have been really leaning into my obsession with house plants. I think it is evident based on my recent posts that I just cannot get enough of them. My wish list has been growing by the day and honestly, I don’t have a ton of space to support this new hobby. Over this time, I have been finding that I need different tools, containers, and gadgets to help make my plant parenting a little easier. Some of them also double as great décor!
Take a peek at some of my favorite plant care amazon finds below and why I find them so useful!
With my limited space I really wanted a pretty watering can that I can leave out and enjoy along with the feel of the room. This watering can is sturdy and extremely pretty. It does not hold a huge amount of water but for my purposes it is great. I will note that because it is made of metal you do not want to leave any water in the can when it’s not in use. I make sure to dump it out after to avoid the possibility of any rust forming.
A moisture meter is a must have. I am still in the stage where I am excited about my plants. I tend to reach for my watering can a little too much – I haven’t had any root rot yet but I want to avoid the possibility- so I stick my moisture meter in my soil before watering any plants. I have also taken to notating when I water and fertilize on my calendar to look back on. This is great for beginning plant parents or if you tend to overwater your babies.
Now that we are moving into the colder months I truly felt like a grow light was a wonderful thing to have. The room I keep my plants in does get a great amount of light but I want to make sure they are getting what they need. I also enjoy using this light for my propagations to stimulate new growth and help the new plants have the energy they need to establish strong root systems etc.
A mini tool set with all of your must haves. This kit has mixed reviews on Amazon but I have to say I love it. The tools themselves are tiny but I find that to be quite cute. They are useful and fit nicely in the travel bag that it comes with. I gifted the mister to my sister because I had purchased a separate one that I felt was prettier but everything works how it should and feels sturdy.
As I have begun to understand pretty pots are hard to find. I have checked out my local big box stores and usually come back empty handed. Above are some of the ones I have purchased from Amazon that I love. These pots in particular I have been asked about a few times. I tend to stick with white and black pots for my space because I enjoy the cleaner look and they are likely to fit in with any decor.
I am still looking to dabble more in tools, tips and techniques I have been finding online. One of the things I have been most interested in trying is mixing my own potting soil it seems people like to add more perlite and orchid bark to what they get in the store. What are some items that you enjoy having around for your house plant needs?
